Finch Wellbeing

Finch Academy values each child's social welfare and happiness and helps each child reach their full potential.

Wellbeing

At Finch Academy, we help students reach their full potential in all aspects of school life. In addition to their academic achievement, we value each child's social welfare and happiness. We provide a caring environment with clear and consistent boundaries that everyone understands.

Our goal is for children to be able to achieve in a safe environment and to be proud of their accomplishments. We recognise all accomplishments through our reward system in assemblies, in school reports, and every day in classrooms. We believe in the concept of a praise culture and look for opportunities to honour and thank students - the most frequent being verbal and written praise given in response to work achievement and effort.

Form Tutors, Learning Mentors, and Year Managers are assigned to each Key Stage. They are in charge of each child's progress, attendance and general well-being. A member of the school's Leadership Team also oversees this process.

The Form Tutors see their form groups twice a day, allowing them to monitor the progress and well-being of every student in their form group closely. A small proportion of students will require more intense pastoral assistance, which will be provided by learning mentors through frequent mentoring meetings. Year Managers can provide any additional assistance.

If you need to contact the school, please contact the Student Services Co-ordinator for that year group, who will contact the appropriate staff member. If the situation is more serious and you are considering contacting Ms. Read, the Head Teacher, please contact the relevant member of the Leadership Team responsible for that year group or faculty.
